Joseph M. Stork, MSW, LISW
Licensed Independent Social Worker | Child & Adolescent Trauma Specialist | School-Based Mental Health Clinician

Joseph (Joe) M. Stork, MSW, LISW, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with extensive experience in providing trauma-informed mental health care to children and adolescents, particularly in underserved African American communities. With a compassionate and culturally responsive approach, Joseph has dedicated his clinical career to helping youth navigate the complex emotional and behavioral challenges that often result from trauma, abuse, neglect, and systemic adversity.

Joseph specializes in school-based mental health services, where he has worked directly with students, families, and school personnel to deliver targeted interventions for youth with significant mental health needs, including histories of complex trauma, suicidal ideation, and severe emotional dysregulation. He is known for his ability to build rapport with even the most guarded clients and for creating safe, supportive environments where healing and resilience can begin.

His therapeutic foundation is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and strengths-based care, which he uses to guide clients through emotional regulation, behavioral change, and personal growth. Joseph is skilled in conducting comprehensive mental health assessments, creating safety plans, and implementing harm reduction strategies for clients experiencing high-risk behaviors or crisis-level concerns.

A core component of Joseph’s work is his commitment to cultural competence, equity, and ethical care. He is particularly adept at recognizing and responding to suicidal ideation, signs of abuse, and severe psychological distress in vulnerable youth. His clinical practice integrates trauma-responsive strategies with practical tools to empower young clients, foster healthy coping skills, and strengthen their support systems.
