Melissa Jackson, MSW, LSW, holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Akron and a master’s in social work from The Ohio State University. With over 20 years of extensive experience, Melissa’s professional journey encompasses roles in case management, community-based social work, and private practice. Her diverse background includes working in child welfare, serving as a family advocate for Head Start, conducting foster care/adoption assessments, and assessing cases for Family Relations Court, community-based mental health services, and private practice.

Throughout her career, Melissa has adeptly engaged, mentored, and counseled individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults, and those with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She provides support during moments of crisis, stress, loss/grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, and life transitions.

Employing a holistic approach, Melissa integrates various therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Active Listening, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She aims to cultivate a solid therapeutic alliance and foster a non-judgmental, confidential, safe, and culturally competent environment, thereby assisting clients in achieving their therapeutic goals.

Understanding the challenges associated with initiating therapy, Melissa creates a comfortable, empathetic, and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to embark on their journey toward healing and personal growth.
