Gopal Acharya, MS

Gopal Acharya, M.S., Mental Health Counselor, brings extensive clinical experience and a strong multicultural perspective to Cook Counseling and Consulting Inc. With more than five years of professional counseling experience in Massachusetts—and over a decade working in case management and medical/social services—Gopal offers comprehensive mental health support to individuals from diverse backgrounds and at all stages of life.

Gopal has significant expertise working with clients who have a long history of substance use disorders and individuals referred from residential treatment programs, hospital-based services, and court-mandated counseling. His background allows him to provide structured, compassionate, and nonjudgmental care to clients navigating complex clinical and social challenges. He is open to working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. He has experience supporting a wide range of mental health diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral concerns, and co-occurring disorders.

In addition to his master’s-level clinical training, Gopal spent more than 10 years working as a bachelor-level counselor, gaining hands-on experience in case management, crisis support, and community-based services. He has also served as a medical and social services interpreter, a role that strengthened his ability to communicate effectively, build trust, and support clients across linguistic and cultural barriers.

Gopal is bilingual in English and Nepali and is a valued member of the Nepali-speaking Bhutanese community. His lived experience and cultural insight make him exceptionally skilled in providing culturally responsive counseling, helping clients feel safe, understood, and respected. He integrates evidence-based interventions with cultural competence to ensure care is inclusive, relevant, and effective.
